Dataset
“Splash Parks" are outdoor areas designated for water recreation that are owned by Strathcona County. Typically, a splash park (also referred to as a spray park) is a concrete area with water pipes, jets, colourful characters, and other items that move water by shooting, spraying, trickling, or other similar means. They are typically focused for children but all residents are welcome. Splash parks are usually within a 'park' but not always. This data set does not include areas like outdoor swimming pools, or water recreation features that people do not interact with such as decorative fountains. Splash park features are represented as points.

File or Document
This data represents 1 metre contours in the northern portion of Strathcona County.
The 1 metre contour data was generated using the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from the 2013 Orthophoto capture, which was based on the AltaliS 15 metre Lidar and the 1 metre lidar Strathcona County purchased. The 15 metre AltaLIS lidar has an accuracy of +/- 30 cm while the 1 metre lidar has an accuracy of +/- 15 cm. Because they are combined in the DEM, the accuracy varies depending on the coverage area.

Table representing household census data aggregated to Enumeration Area (EA) gathered in the 2015 Municipal Census.
The municipal census was conducted in the spring of 2015. The census gathers information such as the number of people who live in the home, their ages and gender; the type of dwelling; and length of residency in Strathcona County. An up-to-date census count ensures the County receives the maximum grant dollars based on population. These dollars go toward municipal programs such as roads, transit, and community and family services. Census information is also used to plan for future services and programs.
The GIS Branch may use the household data for analysis; however, areas containing less than 50 people will not be reported. This practice is in line with Statistics Canada reporting. The data is not available directly to Strathcona County staff but is available upon request and permission from LLS. The data is not shared publicly at the household level.
For mapping purposes, this table can be joined by EA number to the polygon data set (https://data.strathcona.ca/Demographics/Municipal-Census-2015-EA/ns2u-t8q8). Additionally, the centroid (point) of the EA polygon is included.

Data Lens
In April/May 2015, Strathcona County asked County residents to provide feedback about aspects of traffic safety in the community. All quantitative survey results are available in this data set.
Information on the methodology used in the development and implementation of the survey can be found in the report 2015 Traffic Safety Survey Part One: Quantitative Research Results.
Results from open-ended survey questions are available in a companion report: 2015 Traffic Safety Survey Part Two: Qualitative Research Results.
Both reports and the survey questions are attached (see About tab).
