This data represents the Airport Vicinity Protection Overlay (As described in Section 9.3 and Schedule C of the Land Use Bylaw 6-2015), the Heavy Industrial Transition Overlay (As described in Section 7.19 of the Land Use Bylaw 6-2015) the Highway Overlay (As described in Section 3.2.5 of the Land Use Bylaw 6-2015) and the Restricted Development Area (Alberta Infrastructure).

An intermunicipal development plan (IDP) is a high-level statutory plan jointly developed by two or more neighbouring municipalities, and where at least one member is not part of a growth management region. An IDP ensures that land use decisions are coordinated between municipalities.
Recent changes to the Municipal Government Act (MGA) require that all municipalities within the province of Alberta with a shared boundary must complete and adopt an IDP, unless both municipalities are part of a growth region or have a mutual agreement for an IDP exemption. Strathcona County is part of the Edmonton Metropolitan Regional Board with the following municipalities, meaning IDPs are not required: the City of Edmonton, the City of Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc County, and Sturgeon County.
A joint planning study is a document that facilitates collaboration and guides the development of strategies and tools to address emerging topics between two municipalities.
